Michael Childers is Chief Consultant, Content & Media Strategy, for the IT company Lufthansa Systems. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX), in his third term, and is chair of the APEX Technology Committee. He served on the FAA’s PED ARC that made it possible for airlines to extend use of passengers’ electronic devices from gate-to-gate, and served on the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) ACCESS Advisory Committee that recommended criteria for providing close captions for the deaf and audio descriptions for the blind on inflight entertainment content. The Technology Committee that he chairs establishes the digital standards and specifications for inflight entertainment, connectivity and e-commerce. APEX and Lufthansa Systems are moving inflight advertising into a broader Digital Out-of-Home ecosystem and are establishing GDPR-compliant criteria for data capture and analytics in the travel experience.
